H-1 B Status - Transfer Case

I have my H-1 through a company, say CompA. My wife has an H-4.

I-94s for both (myself and spouse) expire end of 2007

I tried to switch my job after coming back to US (Not switched yet). So I got my H-1 petition filed (premium) through another company, say CompB (in Feb 2007). The H-1 got approved. H-4 also went through usual transfer process. (I am not sure what the process was. I can only tell that my wife signed G-28 and I-539)

Unfortunately I was NOT ABLE to JOIN CompB due to some unavoidable reasons. So CompB is getting my H-1B petition cancelled.

I continue to work with CompA now.

I just want to know that (keeping in view the series of all the above events) :

1. What would be my immigration status now? Can I still keep on working for CompA as if there was no impact of the events above?

2. What would be my wife's immigration status now? Would it be the same as before as if no impact of the events above?

3. Does the CompA now need to do anything so that I can keep working with them, since all this H-1 petition got approved and now cancelled through CompB? Also do they need to do something for my wife's H-4?
