A review of the FBI's Name Check Program database revealed that a request from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) for you was received on December 16, 2003, and is currently in a pending status. You may be assured that the immigration authorities will be notified at the earliest possible date upon completion of your case. However, the FBI completed a record check for Ranjani on December 16, 2003, and the results were forwarded to the USCIS.

The reply looks self explanatory that your FBI name check is pending. I feel sorry but hope it will be done at the earliest.

While I understoodd that my case was pending form the message, my question is about my wifes case. are they saying they cleared the name check same day for my wife. Pls clarify. Thanks

That's what message says.

Unless you don't know anyone called "Ranjani".

It's also self explanatory that your wife's FBI Name check is done. Hopefully they'll start working on your name check since your's is still pending while your wife's done.

Whils it is easily understandable that come is cleared for my wife, just wanted to clarify whether record check and name check are the same.

I lived in my home country India and visted US on business trip and applied for FBI verification for canadian immigration... not sure why it is pending.. and my name is not all that common to find the match.. I guess just have to wait.

I don't want to hurt any body's feelings. You question was vague in the first place. You should have asked this question(wanted to clarify whether record check and name check are the same.) in your first post. Don't think everyone can read you mind.
