My 485 was approved Oct 22,2004. Did not get the approval notice yet only received emails.
Here is the scenario my wife is leaving for India trip on Oct 28,2004. Can she go the Houston INS office to get it stamped by showing the email apporval ??? Anyone did that before ? Do the security will allow her to get the PP stamped based on email approval??
Please help me out.

Thanks
Rajibda

Try it ... Some times it will work. I remember some member did in VA with the e-mail approval print.

All the best.

Take 2 Photoes, All EAD and AP's with Passport.

Either she should get the stamping showing the email (I remember reading couple of people posting that they were sucessful doing that) or she should postpone her trip till she gets her stamping. When I got the approval papers from my attorney she had specifically written that I should not travel outside the US till I get my passport stamped.

Thanks BaSh and Jd for your quick response.. Yes I know that she might has to cancel her trip, just thought of trying to get it stamped with email approvals. So wanted to know that if any one did it in Houston INS office

Someone in this forum got the PP stamped successfully with email approval. I will suggest you to try with email approval and take your ticket with you to convince him/her. In any case they verify the approval information on their computer.

Good luck.

Here is my experience of PP stamping with no approval letter and no infopass appointment.
Went to Houston INS office @6:30am, talked to the security officer at the gate and told him that my wife will be travelling tomorrow so need her PP stamped today.
7:00am I was inside the building and talked to another officer who was issing the ticket numbers. He asked the approval letter and I showed him the e-mail confirmation he was not familier with the e-mail confirmation he looked several times and then looked into the airline ticket and the itenerary and asked my wife to show some ID and he matched her name. And then he asked what is the emergency I said it was family emergency that she has to go tomorrow. And then the officer issed a ticket number and said since I do not hav Infopass appt I have to wait for a while.
11:45am Went the the counter gave her the e-mail confirmation she asked about ID my wife gave her EAD card and then after looking to her system she said the their system is not updated and unless that is update whe cannot stamp the PP, she said I can see her approval on one screen but on the other screen it is not showing anything about the class of green card, the system will be updated after they dispatch the letter. She then said the my wife can use the AP while comming back there is no problem with that. And she also said that if I get the approval letter then she can able to stamp her PP without any problem. So did not had any luck at this time........... have to reschedule her trip now.....
I already booked two appt using Infopass on 2nd week of november. Hopefully by that time I will get the approal letter by mail.

PP Stamping

rajibda thanks for sharing yr experience. It is good know that we have to go with approval letter. Once again thanks for the information.

Of course you have to go with approval notice. (It is not a surprise knowledge). Approval notice from USCIS is a valid recognized document by USCIS. An email printout or print out of case status from the internet is not exactly valid for stamping purposes.

Bad Luck !!

I didnt get the approval notice yet so thought of giving a try at Miami USCIS District office..I took an infopass appointment today morning at 7:30 AM.But didnt work !!!
The officer was very rude and told to get the Original approval notice.

Bad Luck !!

I have given a shot
