i was recently laid off and have been looking for jobs. i got a part time offer as a contract position. i have finished my 180 days from RD 09/02. ihaven\'t used EAD until now. what should be the process of changig h1 to ead? will 1099 affect GC process in any way?

go to local INS office to get your EAD card.

You may get the real card the same day of your walking in before.
Right now heard you may pick up later day because of security checking.

my question is how do i activate my EAD with new employer? I have never used EAD? also will a contract position ( 1099) on part-time basis affect my 485 application?

can someone please advise?

Your new job must be a similar one as your old job

Again this\'s one of the grey areas of AC21....INS is yet to release formal regulations.....It will not affect your 485 processing as long as you don\'t get an RFE for the latest employment letter....

To join your new employer with EAD there\'s a form(I-9 I guess) which you have to fill it out....

Hi,
Do not worry. Use your EAD for work. You should get approved. If you get a RFE, reply with latest information on job, W-2 etc.
YOu should not have a problem

I don\'t think it is a big issue for you. Just take it.
And at the same time to make your eyes open for other
opennings.
