What's a legal status during a motion period?
My friend filed I-485 during motion period to reopen the application for H1b. It's very unique case because while his H1B application was rejected after long struggle with repeated RFE and motion due to a stupid lawyer, LC and immigration petition was approved with same sponsoring company of H1B. He filed his 1-485 during a motion period for the H1B.
Finally the motion was denied just after filing of I-485.
Different definition on the status under a motion period by people and even by lawyer.
How do we view the motion period before filing of 1-485?

I know it's one of grey area to define a staus in motion period... we got a diffrerent word by people.
