What does a request to complete I-89 signify?
We received a notice that we need to take "immigration style" pictures and go to local INS and complete I-89.

What does this signify?

Gurus please help!!!

I guess the pictures that you sent along with I485 are not upto the standared if BCIS(INS). May be you need to re do the pictures and send them back.

greensurf sounds like you are approved or getting close to it.

Questions

Can you tell me when did you do your FP? and did your AVM & online updated afterwards.

Mine never updated and we did our FP on 1/11/03

I-485
ND 04/24/01
RD 05/14/01

I received I-89 form even before doing the actual FP from TSC and called them up to find out why.

That is because my attorney said that I-89 is an internal INS form they use internally. After a couple of phone calls, one IIO was kind enough to dig deeper into why i received I-89 without the actual 485 approval and came back with an answer.

This kind IIO came back saying that since I updated my mailing address on the file at TSC while my 485 was pending, the system automatically (bug ?) generates this I-89 request and that I can safely ignore the I-89 request. That was my case.

I did my FP in 12/2002. AVM updated w/i a week.

I will just go to local INS like the letter asked me to do.

GC3003,
I have not changed anything about my application since I filed. I have been trying to call all day. No luck. I will go to local INS to see for myself.
