I have these questions

1.What is the time period when you could leave your parent company after getting your GC?
2.Is there a rule that we should always work in IT and on a similar job even though you get your GC?
3.What is called a smooth transition from your parent company to any other job after GC? Do I need to obtain a letter from my parent company?

I can only outline what my lawyer told me ( via documents).

1. To be on the safer side, I should work with my sponsor for 9 to 12 months.

2. Though it would be helpful to keep working in IT field but you can always give reasonable reasons like (if asked) economy keeps slowing down and getting harder to find job in IT field so moving to other areas.

3. Smooth transition is when your sponsor company lets you go for reasons beyond their control ( like economy slowing down so had to layouff people ).

Again, this is my lawyer's opinion not mine. Though I understand what he is trying to say.

you can leave your company whenever you want there is no problem at all.you can even work in MacD and gas station if you want you are a free bird.
There have been some odd cases where sponsoring company have complained against the person.....If you leave your company with enough notice I am sure he would understand.....Just make sure that you leave in good terms or wait for 6-9 months after that you don't need even that.
