Hi,

I'm currently a green card holder and plan to take a sabatical/working trip to Europe in June. I'm hoping to leave for about 6 months but have heard conflicting reports on how long I can leave the country without effecting my status.
Is it legal to work and live abroad for 6 months while holding a green card? If not, how long can I leave for?

If you are going to be abroad for more than 6 months, you can consider applying for a re-entry permit though that's normally only needed if you're going to be away from the US for 1-2 years. However, it's better to be safe than sorry.
