Green Travel docuemnt after getting my green card

Hello:

I have green card ( plastic card ) and valid passport. I got the grren card through EB3 last year. Plastic card reached me last year around Aug. Today I received Green color travel document which is valid for two years. It says permit to Reenter. I guess I do not know why I am receiving this document. Any answers are appriciated.

Did you or your Company or Attorney apply for a Re-entry Permit for you in case you were planning to go out of the country for an extended periond of time ? This is normally applied for when you cannot maintain your Permanent Residence in the US and you need to be out of the country for more than a year, but intend to come back to the US.

I remember I had applied for advance aprole while my my green card was getting processed. Because I was not sure when GC would be approved. I was under the impression that once GC is approved the application for advance parole will be cancelled. But looks like they have converted it to reentry permit. I hope this will not create any problems to my permanent status. I am planning to visit to my country for a month this year. So should use my reentry permit or enter with GC ?

That kind of explains it. You do not have to use the re-entry permit when coming back after a month stay abroad. You do not need to use it at all, if you dont intend to stay for more than a year abroad.
