Green card vs N-400

I just read the news from website, they said when you apply for N400 citizenship by marriage, if they don't approve it, them might remove your green card too.
is that real? they said it is better to have attoney to apply for n400. please give some thoughts?
 
Normally you will keep your green card if the N-400 is denied. But they can revoke your green card if you committed a deportable offense, or they discover that you were not eligible for the green card when it was granted (e.g. suppose you immigrated in the category of unmarried children but you were actually married).
