Green card validity in scenarios of absence

Within 1 year of getting green card but before citizenship if the green card holder undergoes the foll scenraios, how will USCIS deal with the "maintaining" residency clause. I ask this question since it is a known fact that border officers and USCIS can revoke the green card if the holder does maintain residency within the country or is absent for a long period of time.
The scenarios are:
1. The GC holder leaves US to study an advanced degree in some other country for 2 years. (The holder will do his best to make trips to US as when the time permits).
2. The GC holder takes an international assignment with UN and its allied agencies for a certain period of time.
3. The GC holder takes an job in an international location of a firm (NOT the one that applied for his/her GC) that does not have an office in US.
4. The GC holder takes an job in an international location of a firm that HAS an office in US.
5. The GC holder takes a sabbatical and goes to some international location to do voluntary work with peace / medical organizations .

Will the GC holder be barred from coming back anytime due to lack of continuous presence in US?

Thanks

Why are you so paranoid, do you fit in any scenerios quoted above??

Depends what you mean by "maintaining residence". Is it for citizenship purposes or for purposes of maintaining green card?

I would appreciate if somebody could please give an answer to these qs!!! I am thinking of a job with UN in Switzerland and degree from EU school. As such answers to some of these qs would be helpful.
Thanks in advance

From what I understand, to be away periods greater than 12 months, you have to first obtain a re-entry permit BEFORE you leave. But, that is valid only for absences of up till 2 years. PLease check on this - I am not a lawyer. You can go to the USCIS website and type "re-entry permit" for more details. h
