Hello I have a question.. my "resident since" date says 1/09/2009..i'v been out of the country on short trips for about 6 months(well adds up to about 6 months) but not consecutive..i haven't been out of the country for 6 straight months.. will this be a problem when I'm filing for citizenship.. will i have to wait longer to apply for citizenship because of this? and when could I apply for citizenship when my date is 1/09/2009?.. thanks

A total of 6 months which is made up of many small trips is not a problem. You do not have to wait longer because of this.
When you can apply ... it depends on whether you are filing under the 3 year rule (marriage to a USC) or normal (5 year).
If filing under the 5 year rule ... you can file on Jan 9, 2009 (1/09/2009) + 5 years - 90 days which will come to late October 2013.

Thanks for your reply..Im filing under the 5 year rule.. and if you can answer another question please.. how many trips can I take out of the country with my green card per year..? say like I take a trip for summer(June) for 1 week and then I got back go back in october of the same year for 28 days ..none of my trips exceed 6 consecutive months..will it eventually be a problem? when i file for citizenship... I spend more time in the United States than I do out of country..please do tell thanks..

There is no simple and single answer to how many trips you can take. It depends on the overall pattern of your trips ... lenght, frequency, and time spent in the US between trips. But your plan of a couple of trips per year of under 1 month each will not be a problem.
