Green card to student visa

Hey

I am in a sticky situation here, probably way different than what is normal. I have been an LPR for last 3 years and received my green card based on asylum status from my father. Recently things have been better and my family has moved back leaving me behind here. Since I don't have a valid passport I can't travel back to the country by any means and using RTD I wouldn't be able to visit my home (haven't seen my father in a year, mother in three years). If i did, my asylum status would be revoked (i think). The problem is I have been doing college here and have done great, very high GPA and other stuff. Im should finish my junior year this fall semester and be a senior in spring. So I don't want to risk that, if I leave I won't be able to come back and finish school, leading all my efforts throughout my life to a waste. Currently Im on track to med school. So I was wondering if I could change my status to a student visa and give up the residency, so that i can trvael back n forth to home easily and legally.
