green card surrender for marriage

I have my green card and now want to get married. Since it will take almost 5 years for my spouse to get a green card I am thinking of this possibility:
Surrender my green card and go to India for a year to get married. Then after 1 year reapply for a green card as a returning resident (which has no quota limits) along with my wife. Has anybody done this or knows anything about this process? How long does returning resident take to get green card and is his dependent allowed to apply with him. Any gotchas? Your help will be higlhy appreciated. Thanks.

thanks joef - one more question

Is there any website where I can read about this and how to apply for a returning resident visa (green card)?

Thanks and my apologies for posting twice - couldn\'t see the earlier post.

question about marriage after getting green card

Hi,

I have had my greencard for over a year now and I am planning to get married very soon. I am willing to give up my greencard so that I can bring my wife here but my question is: When I got my green card, I had about 6 months time left on my H1B. If I am willing to give up my greencard, do I have to stay away from the US for a year, come back and then reapply or could I start the greencard process once again while still living here?. Also, please let me know of any problems that I could possibly face.

  I greatly appreciate any help.

Thanks
