Green Card Status and impacts to Citizenship

Me and my wife got green cards (Employment Based) on 12/19/2006.

Ist trip: Both of us (me and my wife) went to india for about two and half months i.e from 12/01/2007 to 02/07/2008.
2nd trip: My wife went to india for about 173 days i.e from 08/02/2009 - 01/21/2010 along with my son.

Right now my 3 year old son (US Citizen) is in india. What happens to mine and my wife's Green Card status and how does it impact to apply for citizenship if my wife goes to out of US again in Feb'2010 ( i.e to India) for 4+ months to take care of my son?

FYI - My wife never worked in US.
 
So what is the plan? Do you want to live in the US or in India as a family? You have permanent residence status so I don't understand why she would spend more than a year total abroad.
