green card & SSN

Does anybody know after entering to US how long will it take for the GOVT to send the green card and SSN?
And if we dont receive it within that time then what one should do?
 
GC depends on the visa center which handle your application. It can take from 2 weeks up to 6 month.

Don't count on it that you get the SSN automatically, even if you selected that options in DS-230. I would strongly advise you to go to the nearest SSA office after a few days an apply for it to avoid any delays,

What does SSA stand for?
If i go to SSA office do they give SSN immediately or they might speed up the process?
 
Do what Taz says about the SSN.

If your GC hasn't arrived within 30 days then ring up the number which is on your welcome letter and let them know.
 
No welcome letter, no Green card yet

We arrived about 27 days ago, we have still not received our welcome letter nor greencards. We had to apply for our SSN. SSN received after 7 days. I thought the welcome letter will be sent with the greencard. :)
 
Time depends on the processing center, west coast center is very fast, Texas is slow (processed our case).
Welcome letter comes before the card, maybe it's a good idea to call USCIS.
