Green card sent back as undeliverable

My husband's green card was sent back as undeliverable for some reason. When we called the name and address was correct so we don't know why it was mailed back to them. They also said it could take up to 30 days to remail it (after you call and inquire about it). The website shows they've had it since August 11 and we've checked the site every day since with no change. We've put our name on the mailbox and spoken to the post office since. Has this ever happened to anyone?

We're afraid it's going to take forever to get his green card and he really needs to work. He's unable to get a Social Security number because he doesn't have it yet. I can't believe they just sit on this for so long with no action

Go to the DO with the approval notice, the undeliverable notice, and make them stamp his passport.

Unfortunately he doesn't have one. Being from Canada he didn't need one to enter the US. We're just gonna have to wait until they decide to mail it back :(

Waaa????

The approval notice is the letter you get saying your Green Card is approved, it comes seperately from the Green Card itself. Did you not get this?

I don't know what you husband didn't need because he came from Canada, in fact I really can't imagine what that would be?

Sapphie, I think you are confusing the "approval notice" with the I-94? Everybody should received an approval notice (even sometimes people do not and received it later on or just received the green card itself) regardless where he is from or where he is come from or entered the US.

Well, not really. Canadians don't need them to go into the States (for now anyways, that is changing). We just state our business and go across, no stamp, no I-94 (in most visitor cases anyways) We just come and go. They can also get a green card without them as long as there is other evidence proving who they are and that they are Canadian. I'm not sure what someone from Canada needs if they don't have a passport but I know a couple of people who have gotten TNs and GCs without them.

Huh! You learn something new every day. I always assumed you'd need a passport to get through AOS. You crazy Canadians. ;)

Yes, I meant he doesn't have a passport. He didn't need one to go this process but he might go ahead and get one now. Anyway, we received the Welcome letter in July.

It's just that whenever the green card is sent back as undeliverable (which there was no reason because they had the correct name and address), it appears that they send it out whenever they get around to it.

We called about 3 days after it should have been here and they said they would send it back out in a few days. Well, we waited then called back and then they said it might take 30 days and to wait until then to call back. We waited and called today and they said that nobody from Missouri picked up the request from our first inquiry and it would take at least 2 weeks from today for them to respond to this inquiry. She also said it could take another 30 days and that some people have waited 6 months to have their green card resent in the mail. Talk about some bs

Hey Sapphie,

Well I understand what your going through, im going through the same thing right now. My "request of additonal evidence" letter is marked "Undeliverable" too and wel I have request it to be resent 4-5 Times (since July 24th), I have put my name on the Mailbox and everything.

What I would do if I were you is Schedule an INFOPASS, I have and My Info pass appointment is on Monday.

I am Canadian as well and I don't have a Passport nor a I-94, so people should know that Canadians are not given I-94's because their only Vaild for 90 Days in which Canadians are allowed to stay in The U.S. as a Visitor up to 5-6 Months. I wouldn't cross the border until you visit a Immirgation Officer (Infopass) cause we are in the Computer systems, especially people crossing The North American Borders.

Good luck to you Brenglen. Let us know how it works out. We were going to schedule an appt with InfoPass but our attorney said the only thing they could do is stamp his passport and since he doesn't have one, there's no reason to go. I can't believe they just sit on this and we have to wait forever. It's no wonder there's so many illegal workers.
