Green Card required for Finger Printing?

I just got my fingerprinting notice. On the letter, it says bring your greencard to the fingerprinting office.

The problem is my greencard is in the safe deposit box at my parents' bank (in different state).

So, would that accept driver license, hopsital id, or any other id instead of greencard at fingerprint office?

(I guess I can have my parents express mail the greencard if really necessary, but I am too paranoid of having it get lost in the mail :eek: )
 
Assuming the finger printing is for processing N-400 application, yes, green card is definitely required.
 
And you'll need it for the interview and for the oath ceremony. So you had better get it, because you'll get some use out of it before you had it to them for the oath ceremony and never to see it again...

Nope, I didn't know that.

I guess I keep it "safe" (e.g., not with me) because I don't wanna loose it at school. You know how things are at college/dorm. I am afraid that it might get stolen and it would be pain in the ass to get a replacement.
 
HI...don't express mail the green card......Use UPS or FEDEX....get it next day and track it all the way.

Yup, I understand. You are certainly not alone, and practically I don't think this particular law has ever been enforced unless it was "convenient" for ICE to do so. Here is a link to the relevant USCIS web page.
 
I forgot to take my GreenCard with me when I went for my fingerprinting ( N 400 application ). The lady took my Drivers Licence, went inside, ran some checks and let me in. I am not encouraging anybody to leave behind their GC. You should definitely take it with you. In my case, I genuinely forgot to take it with me.
 
Even if you can get by without the GC for the FP appointment, you will need it through the rest of processing.

Yeah, but I figured Interview is still at least 2 months away and I am likely to visit my parents during that period.

Get your GC FeDExed to u. Go for the FP with your GC. Send it back to your parents via FexEx. And finally have them FedEx back to you for your interview.

You definitely need the original GC for FP and Interview.
