Green card renewal question - help

Hello,

I will be filing for green card renewal for my Mother who will be in US on June 2nd. I would like to send the application earlier so that she can get her biometrics date scheduled for sometime in the month of June. Can anyone tell me when the biometric date is approx scheduled for from the date of submission of the green card renewal application? She would need to get the temporary I-551 renewal stamp as she needs to travel back to India end of June around 25th. I was planning to file the application on May 15th via mail and also include a supporting letter stating a request for any date between June 3 - June 25th. Please advise if this would be the best course of action.

Thank you and would appreciate your advice.

The usual time frame is 2-4 weeks since they receive the application. But there is no guarantee.

They surely won't honor any requests for specific date ranges, so don't waste your time and their time with such a request. But sometimes they will accept a walk-in before the scheduled date if they are not very busy that particular day. Try a walk-in for the early afternoon, by which time most of the crowd has cleared out.

But your mother may have other problems. Apparently she is living in India and traveling to the US only for short visits? That is likely to eventually result in revocation of her green card, if she has been doing this for years. Maybe instead of GC renewal she should be filing I-407 at a consulate to officially surrender the card, and then get a tourist visa to visit the US.
