Green Card Renewal Delay

My wife applied for her Green Card Renewal (expires in April 2016) and she had her biometric appointment back in July. We've since been waiting for the new card. When I check the status online it still states they have sent us a notice for biometric screening back in July (which she completed). I tried making an infopass but there are no uscis appointments available in the Houston location. I've checked several times and have had no luck. What are my other options and have others had to deal with this kind of issue in the past? I'd like to at least get an extension on the expiration but I can't get a hold of anyone.

As long as she's filed I-90, she could have gotten an I-551 stamp at an InfoPass appointment, which is equivalent to the plastic green card in every way (a green card is just an I-551) for 1 year. She probably could have gotten one at her biometrics appointment, but that was kind of long before the card expires. I'm not sure what what she can do if she can't get an appointment. Do they do walk-ins? Anyway, is there something particular that she needs a green card for in the near future?

Animal1234,

I am in a similar situation with similar timings. Started the renewal process in June 2015, biometric appointment completed in July 2015, same status when checking online using my receipt#. At the time of my appointment they applied an extension sticker to the back of my GC which extended it through the end of April 2016. I have filed a case inquiry and they are supposed to get back to me by April 12. I fear that something has held up the creation of the GC even though the status of my case says it has been approved.

Hello Animal1234,

I had read your previous conversation, I would like to suggest an option for your spouse, again she need to get I-551 stamp to extend her expired green card (Its valid for 1 year). Once it extended then File the Form I-90 and schedule an appointment to renew her green card. Actually it may take several weeks to get an appointment at USCIS office.
