Green Card Received

I received my GC, the category is right, but it is not backdated. They just have to do something wrong....I think I will wait before sending them my card back for correction (Just hate to part with it right after I got it). Or should I send it over for correction? What if they make me wait for another 12 years?

You are already approved..they can't go back and disapprove you..thats what counts here. The clock is ticking like the big clock on the SHOW 24...so chill and send it back to have it fixed, they will send you back in 3 weeks..

What did they write the date as?

Congratulations Karina.
We got our GC at the same time.I got mine correctly updated and with correct catagory AS6.
You are approved already so don't worry just fill the I-90 and it won't cost you penny.
I don't think you have to send your GC,only the copy of it.

Congrats Karina......

My status changed to 'Status can not be found'... so may be i will be the next....

They put 01/06/2006 as resident since date.
Unfortunately I-90 instructions say that if you need corrections, you need to send the actual card in. I looked up processing times for I-90 in Nebraska. It is June 1, 2005 - 7 months...

Here is what they have on USCIS.gov:

If you are filing because your card was issued with incorrect data due to USCIS administrative error, you must mail a new I-90 application using Application Reason "d" My card was issued with incorrect information because of a USCIS administrative error, and any supporting documentation, to the USCIS Service Center/National Benefits Center (NBC) that processed your previously filed I-90 application. For the Service Center/NBC mailing address, please refer to the letter that came with your I-551 card, also known as "Green Card". This letter provides the address for the Service Center/NBC that processed your previously filed I-90 application. The Service Center/NBC address can also be found on the I-797 "Notice of Action" issued for the previously filed I-90 application. In addition to the new I-90 application, applicants are required to send the original I-551 card containing incorrect information, and documentation that supports the requested correction. I-90 applications submitted with Application Reason "d" do not require the $70 biometrics fee or the base application fee.

Consider holding on to the card and mailing them a color-copy of the card. If the REALLY want the plastic, they can issue an RFE. If they deny your I90, no harm done as you didn't pay a filing fee in the first place and you still have the valid but incorrect card (if it makes you feel better, go to the local office and get a I551 stamp in your passport for the interim in case it takes them longer to get the card back to you).

Somehow I think that USCIS has some project employing monkeys in the facility that manufactures the plastic cards.
I have yet to hear about a person who didn't encounter one of the following:
- first and middle name switched
- first name listet as 'FNU'
- country of birth listed as 'Tuvalu' if they are from Ghana
- PR since date: 9999.999

Asylee Married with american citizen

I'm married with american citizen when I was waiting for my GC.
My GC came with still asylee status eventhough they asked for my married certificate, chilbirth certificate and I have changed my last name to my husband last name, still they use my maiden name in my GC. Do you know anybody have the same problem? also is it common to use maiden name in GC? Do you know how many years do I need to wait to apply for my citizenship since I'm married with american citizen and have GC based on asylum?

Congrtulations, Karina!
Look at the bright side: you've been approved and that's what really matters. As for the our good old INS friends, they will find the way to screw you. It's the reality of dealing with them. You're much closer to living INS-free life than some of us, who are still waiting. ;)

Just called TSC's customer service about the incorrect GC. The service person said, "no, you do not need to send back the old card."

:D
You have a good reason for that. I, personally have seen an EAD, which contained some weird combination of letters instead of person's name. When I looked at the keyboard, I realized what happened. Whoever was entering the data simply shifted everything one key to the left. So, instead of 'Emilio Torres' (not a real name, of course) there was 'Wnukui Rieewa'
