Green Card Process

HI, MY WIFE IS US CITIZEN AND MY FINAL INTERVIEW HAS BEEN DONE IN LAST JULY-2001, BUT I DIDEN\'E RECEIVE MY GREEN CARD YET. HOW LONG IT\'S TAKE TO GET THE GREEN CARD AFTER FINAL INTERVIEW. PLEASE REPLY ME ASAP.

Staying out of US without employment during GC processing

My application for Green card labor was filed last year august from PA. It may take another 10 months for labor to be approved. I have only one year left for H1b expiration period of 6 years.

My question is do i really have to actively employed in US while my GC is being processed. Can I simply wait outside the country till 485 is filed. Can the INS come back and ask if I am employed with the company or not. Do I have to supply with paystubs while filing I-40 papers ?

 My family is in India and I want for minimise my stay in US till I actually get my green card.What will the best possible way? I was thinking on the lines of rejoining the company once they file my 485 papers. Company\'s management is friendly and most likely will accomodate me. I do not want to go for consellor processing because of the inherent risk. Please tell me if it is possible.
