Green card process and converting to EAD

My green card is in process and got EADs for both myself and my wife. My wife is currently on H1B. She is planning to
move to another company and make use of EAD and thus avoid H1. Is that possible? What will be her status? what are the risk factors?

Any recommendations from gurus?

It is always good to retain the H1 as a fall-back. In case the 485 is rejected, she can always continue on the H1.
