I am a physician from india on H1B
I am presently a resident and when i finish my residency i will only have six months left on my H1B visa

I have a few questions

1. I am a Indian citizen now but can become a British citizen (I was born in Scotland) when i want, is there any advantage to changing citizenship to British. Will that help in my GC process by making it faster or it goes by my country of birth ?

2. I will finish my residency June 2008. When should I apply for the GC that means when should i sign my contract for the job and start the process?

I appreciate help

Thanks

YES If you was born in Scotland, you will fall into the rest of the world PD :) NOT INDIAN. You don't have to change citizenship (just only need your Birth certificate when you file I485)

thanks

Dear Neewbies
i appreciate your response

Do you know how much time it takes for someone who is born in UK ?

thanks

If Physicians are EB-2 which I believe they are, you can file your 485 today!! It's current. And yes you fall in ROW, it does not go by citizenship but by place of birth (make sure thats what your passport says as well and the date of Birth Certificate). Consulat a good lawyer.

Thanks
