Green Card payment rules ?

Hi,

My company required me to pay for my green card processing through them. I've heard that legally the company is required to pay for my green card processing.

Is this true ? Can somebody point me out to INS/legal documentation which elaborates on this.

Company is only required to pay for H1 (that too only the INS fees, not legal fees) and is not required to pay for green card processing.
