my dad petition me and the immigration says that i could get his citizenship if i go there before my 18th birthday. but i wasnt able to go there because of medical problems.. so i celebrate my 18th birthday in Philippines..

its been 3 months since i got here.. and almost 2 months since i got my green card.. and im planning to go back as soon as possible..

i'm planning to apply for re entry permit.. but i dont have money for it. and my dad wont give me money.. and my aunt says that i should wait for 6 months before i can go back.. is that true?

will the immigration in the airport let me out even i haven't obtain the 6 months and the permit..

thanks..

You don't necessarily need a reentry permit. How long do you plan to stay outside the US?

And with a green card there is no need to stay for 6 months in the US before leaving, reentry permit or not.

So you're going to study abroad for a few years? Then you'll definitely need the reentry permit. You have to be in the US when you apply for the permit (including when USCIS receives it), and for the fingerprint appointment, but you can leave the US in between those points in time.

But if you don't even have the money for a reentry permit, you have bigger problems. Maybe you should get a job in the US, take the SAT or ACT and apply to US universities. There are many need-based and merit-based scholarships available.

The fee is on their site. Don't ask the people on their phones; half the time they tell you nonsense.

Perhaps they said there is no fee because the I-131 form which is used when applying for the Reentry Permit is also used to apply for Advance Parole, and Advance Parole doesn't have a fee for applicants who filed the I-485 after Summer 2007 (because the cost of the AP is embedded in the I-485 fee).
