Green Card from out of country

I had been here in US for almost 4.5 years(in F1 Visa for about 3 years and almost 1.5 in H1 visa). Shortly I will be leaving US and going for UK work permit( thru my same company) for a short term assignment for 3-6 months. But my question here is I will be out of country by next month in UK Work Permit. I wanted to process my green card from this year from april 2007, (because my company policy allows me to start after a yaer)

Will this have any impact on
1. During processing.
I am asking whether its good to go out of country to work in UK work permit during that time.
2. In future.
I mean will the immigration asks me why you left the country getting UK work permit, is this answerable.

3. Also, will I need to be in country to avoid these.

Please answer me these, this will make me to decide whether I can go to UK assigment or not.

>> GC is for future employment, so no impact
2. In future.

>> No, same answer as above.
3. Also, will I need to be in country to avoid these.
>> You have to be in the country at least by I-485 AOS stage

Please answer me these, this will make me to decide whether I can go to UK assigment or not.

Thanks for ur prompt reply. I almost got it cleared.

So I can process my green card initial stage from out of country.

One question. Can I be there in US payroll, Paycheck and work in UK.
Is it negotiable with employer, because if i need to go to UK work permit
I need to close my 401k plan, insurance, investments, loans for certain months.

Since you are going to UK on a temporary basis, your employer should gladly accommodate your payroll processing in the US. It would infact save them a lot of headache and paperwork as well. As long as they plan to bring you back to the US, it should be a-ok for them to continue payroll here in US.

The only hassle that I foresee if your payroll is processed in US, is for you to keep going to the exchange and keep converting your currency from dollars to euros. But that should not be a biggie, if you are planned and foresee your expenses correctly.
