Green Card for Parent of USC

Hello ,

I am a US citizen, residing in the USA. I want to apply for my parents for Green Card and bring them to the USA. I guess I would need to file some a petition for an immigration visa.

Would you please advise what immigration forms I need to send to USCIS and how long the whole process takes?
Should I hire an immigration lawyer?

Thank you in advance.

Victor.

If they are outside the US, they would go through Consular Processing at a US consulate for an immigrant visa. You would start by simply filing I-130. Once the I-130 is approved, NVC will contact you guys with the next steps. How long this takes is hard to say, but probably more than a year from I-130 filing to getting the immigrant visa.

Would you please help me to understand question #2 on I-130 ( I am a US citizen filing for my parents who live overseas)
in my understanding, this is question refers to my birth.

so I need to check box #1 .

Thank you

So this is basically asking whether you are petitioning your biological parent, stepparent, or adoptive parent, and if biological parent, then whether you were born in wedlock or born out of wedlock.

NEWACCT,
thank you so much for quick reply.

So , if I am filing for my mother and i was born in wedlock i should check box #1?

Thank you again
