I'm a U.S. citizen and have been residing in the Philippines since 2003 and I got married to a Filipino citizen in 2005. We are planning to migrate to the U.S. next year and would like to know how to go about petitioning my husband for a green card. He's holding a Philippine passport with a US tourist visa valid til 2016. I am unemployed and do not have a residence in the US. My husband though is self-employed (he is a freelance web/graphic designer). What will be the easiest way for us to go about the petition without having to spend time apart at all or for too long? Do i start filing the petition now while we're here in the Philippines or do i wait until we enter the U.S., find a job and a place to live in? Many thanks in advance for your help!
