Green Card & Extended absence

Hello,
Have a bit of a unique situation.
Being a US citizen, am in the final stages of having
Green Cards approved for my parents. They will be living with us.

Now it looks like my company (US company) will be sending me out on an international assignment for a few years. If this happens while my folks are with me, my folks would accompany me to the assignment location. How would their green card be continue to be valid, without the so called "abandonment of residency" kicking in.

Thanks
F

They will have to file for re-entry permit- form I131 (I think). Usally I 131 gets approved for 2 years.
