Green Card Expiring in March 2010, need help

Hello,
My Green Card is going to Expire in March of 2010 and would like to know what documnets I need to send with the application other than copy of current Green card. Do I need to file electronically? Can I go overseas after filing and finger printing?
 
Read the instructions for form I-90.

It is better to file electronically. If you eFile you will immediately get a receipt that can be printed immediately. You can take that receipt and get an I-551 stamp in your passport, which can be used for traveling until the new plastic card arrives.
 
I assume you were referring to a regular 10-year green card expiring early next year, and not a 2-year green card based on marriage. If it is a 2-year card, the forms and procedures for renewal are different.
