Hi guys,

I am planning to get married with a US CITIZEN in 2 weeks in Washington state. I entered the United states with 6 months visa which is going to end on April 19,2007. If I fill for my green card and my working permit, does anybody know how long I have to wait before be ready to work?

Thank you guys!!!!!!!!!!!

first-congrats on upcoming wedding! once you file the paperwork it typically takes 75-90 days for work authorization approval. you might want to start working on your papers now-you need to have a medical exam done and there are a lot of documents you need to submit, so sometimes it can take a few weeks to get all the info for filing together. so lets say you manage to file all correctly by mid March, you are looking at end of May-mid June before work authorization is approved. hope that helped!

This immigration process is not always straight forward. There are people who have gone through the process in as few as 90 days but others as long as years! As pointed out by cat, getting the documents is time consuming. So the sooner you fill out the paperwork, the sooner you may be to getting the EAD or GC! Good luck:)
