Hi folks,
need help for a friend in a strange situation. He had a Green Card, but he went abroad because of university. Didn't know about abandonment etc, thought Green Card is permanent. INS noticed that somehow - his Green Card is abandoned, now. Got a brilliant business idea, transformed from poor to rich guy. Because of the bad US-treatment he got in regards to his Green Card and because of all the law suits against entrepreneurs and companies people get in the US, he wanted to give a shit on living in the US. Destiny played with him - fell desperately in love with a girl, an American. She never lived abroad, when she did, she got homesick. They want to marry, but the girl demands a life in the US. If he marries her, can he get a Green Card again? Or is he never allowed to live in "God's given land" again?
The question centers around the possibility of getting a second Green Card after the first one got abandoed.

P.S.: By the way, he had a so-called "family-based Green Card", and now he might pursue a "Green Card through marriage".
