I completely admit that I was very dumb for making this mistake, but today I finally was able to make the $370 payment and get a new green card. While I was e-filling I put my current city as the city that I was born in (I know I should have been more careful :( ) Well I called USCIS as they just said write a letter to the office that will be processing your application, which you can just wait for the receipt letter being mailed to you, and just explain to them that you made that mistake and if they could change it.

I didn’t make the mistake with the A number, my name, or anything like that, just that city name.

Does anyone have any advice as to what I should do now? Of course I’m going to write the letter and send it the moment I get the I-797, but does anyone suggest I do anything else? I hope I can send it certified at least, if not get the notice from the post office that they delivered it without signature if it’s a PO box.

Thank you for your time.

I just read this on the USCIS site...

Change to Submitted I-90 Application:
If it is necessary to change any information on your submitted I-90 application, please bring evidence to support the change with you to your in-person appearance at your local ASC. Do not send written correspondence regarding changes to the National Benefits Center.

Does that mean for your biometrics? Or the place you can go in person, like the field office. I will be going to get my temporary stamp first thing monday morning, should I get it changed then? I'm afraid if I mention something then I wont get my temporary stamp which is what i really need right now.

Also, the lady over the phone told me to write a letter, this says dont, what should I do?

Haven't you learned? 90% of the people on USCIS phone lines are more useless than a rock. Follow what you see on the site, don't listen to what they say on the phone. Make the change at your Infopass appointment when you go for the temp stamping.
