Grace Period and H-1B Application

My OPT has ended and I am in my 60 day grace period. I plan to file for a FY 2005 (20,000 quota) number on May 12. My question is;
1. Am I out of status during the 60 day grace period?
2. Does USCIS accept change of status cases (from F-1 to H-1B) during grace period?

My OPT is almost expiring too. And i wonder during the 60 days grace period, can I still receive compensation (i.e. salary & benefits) from my employer?

where can I find more information regarding the 60 days grace period for an OPT holder?
