Got transferred, have questions on N-470 & tax

It's been about 36 months since I got my green card, and I have crossed the 30 months of continous residence threshold. I recently transferred out of the US, but am with the same employer.

I am going to file a N-470 to preserve my resident status since I want to apply for citizenship as soon as I am eligible.

I have some questions that I haven't been able to get an authoritative answer to:

1. Do I still have to come to the US every 180 days to not jeopardize my citizenship application?

2. I can file for the $80,000 tax exclusion and not jeopardize my green card, but I am not clear on whether this has any effect on my citizenship application.

Any answers/advice/opinions etc. would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Thank you JoeF. I do meet all the requirements for filing the N470 (have been in the US for one year) and have crossed the 30 months physical residence threshold.

I also spoke to an immigration lawyer and your answers are even more accurate than his - maybe its time to audition for one :-)
