Needless to say after a very, very long wait, my husband and I are experiencing a tremendous amount of relief. We have so many emotions today, it is hard to describe them all.

Over the course of our journey, I have written my congressmen 5 times, made 2 personal visits to the Congressman's office, made 2 inquiries within INS and several personal visits, written the FBI 2 times, and have made numerous phone calls and e-mails.

The timeline is as follows:

RD August 28, 2001 Charleston , SC office
EAD #1 October 2001 Charleston, SC office
AP #1 December 2001 Greer, SC office
EAD #2 October 2002 Charleston, SC office

Plastic Card???

At some point, I will post our whole INS experience. I want to say a tremendous thank you to this board for providing essential information. I would have never thought to fax, e-mail, and write the FBI concerning the name security check if not for this board.

I truly believe all the letters made a difference in our case. My husband's application literally sat on a shelf for 3 years in CHarleston, and the name check sat on another shelf for approximately 2 years in the FBI.

For those of you who are still waiting, do not feel helpless. The key is persistence, persistence, persistence. Never ever give up hope. Maria24, your story inspired me to take control. I have read your posts since May. Thank you so much for sharing.

LucyMO, I am happy to tell you again that my husband was never subject to the 2 year residency requirement. This approval notice confirms it. And yes, my husband is from the former Soviet Union.

Dukhi and Daveh, hang in there. Your time will come.

From what I understand, the plastic card will be mailed. I have read that some of you have received your cards in as little at two to three weeks after the approval notice. THe classification on my husband's approval notice is IR-6. Can someone please tell me for sure if this is the 10 permanent residency card??

Thank you all so much.
