So I need some idea of you think will happen if this scenario is pursued.

Lived in US got married and went through the process and got my stamp in passport for permanent resident. I got a social security number but...

3 years after got separated later divorced and never got GC in hand, later left the country got married years later to a British citizen, been married for 13 years.

To present.. I'm looking to move back to the USA, can I use that social to get a job and if so can I re-apply and get my GC?

What route should this person take?

How long have you been out of US? Your GC status might be long gone if you spent several years outside of US. You cannot simply move back to US. If you wish to live in US permanently you will have to qualify for and get another GC all over again.

Your old GC status is no longer valid.

If you first get a work visa or a new green card, you will use the same old SSN again to work in the US. But you can't just randomly get up and move to the US with the SSN. The SSN by itself doesn't give you any legal status to live or work in the US. Get the work visa or new green card first, then move to the US and start working.
