I just went to chicago consulate and renewed my passport( whicj expiring in next june)..went and submitted the all the details,.at 10 am, and payed extra $90 other than $40 . and collected new passport at 4 pm. my daughter's PIO card also got in one day by paying extra $90 other than $155. My GC was approved last month got stamped on I-94 kind of card..(passport was nor stamped as it is not having 1 year validity.

You used the word renewed, means you did not have either "F" or "Final" on your previous passport near the expiry date. is it correct?

If you are not from India ignore.
A passport from India is valid maximum upto 10 years. Either "F" or "Final" would be written beside the expiry date, meaning the passport cannot be renewed with out enquires and checks...
For some reason if a passport was issued for less than 10 years, the passport would be renewd and now the "F" would be appended at the expiry date.
My question was..
Was there a "F" or "Final" on the passport before you renewed it.
The reason I am trying to find out is...., Passports re-issued/renewed after 10 years are being issued on the same day or not.
