Got My interview letter Tampa DO!!

YEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

I finally received my letter asking me to come in for my interview. 5 months after the FP and 15 days after my case status disappeared.

I am so happy.

Upon further inspection I noticed that the letter is asking me to come in to a Memphis, TN office. Which is a 13 hour drive and about 850 Miles.

Down on the bottom they were nice enough to put the Tampa Office Address in Tampa....

I think I will go to the one in Tampa :D

It would be nice to call the DO and check my appointment, but the phone number that I found for them just keeps going through the automated menu, and you cannot talk to a real person.
 
What is the date of your interview?

Memphis? Are they nuts? Tell me the date please, as my letter is coming soon and it would be good to have a ball park idea of when so I can get my future travel plans in order.

That is good news, sort of...but Memphis?
 
I doubt that they did it on purpose due to high volume at Tampa DO.

I think it was just a mistake.

Infopass is a good idea to check and see what is going on and make sure that my appointment time and location are correct. But it is an hour drive(one way) for me to the DO so.....

Well when I heard about the Memphis , TN I said no way. What is the actual verbiage on the document that you received., if you dont mind. Your wait was having its impact on all your fellow Tampaites.

In one of my earlier posts I had said that the whole Citizenship process should involve less intervention from CIS. When we go to the ASC for fingerprinting there itself they can conduct the test question and answer. If we can take tests for driving at DMV on a computer why not at USCIS. You pass the test , you passed the reading also. Writing can be tested on the computer also if needed or you can ask the fingerprint officer to evaluate the writing. FBI is all automatic. If everything is OK approve the case and send Oath letter, if not call for an interview. It saves USCIS a lot of money and effort and it saves the future citizens also.

You are being asked to come to Memphis with a 13 hour drive all for what a 15min interview. Oh well.....take a vacation there and see my friends(the King) favorite places.

From what I have heard Memphis is a sh**hole. Crime is up through the roof up there. Plus USCIS accomodates everyone by where they live. I don't know.

Thnaks hwpd....I went to Memphis to visit my friend

on vacation. There are places that are not safe as it is many cities (Tampa is exception like many Floridian cities). You just have to be careful to avoid those places. It is not as scarry as you think it is. Anyway you are going to go for the interview in the day time so dont worry about that. Or you can take a place to stay like 60 minutes to Memphis. I stayed in Topeka, MS it is on my way to Memphis, an hour or so away and pretty small town. The King was born there. You can get decent hotel there for $45-70 depends on how much you are willing to spend. Just my few cents. You can get decent places in Memphis too for a few dollars more.

Oh lol... You see... I think this is a mistake. I have never heard that they would send people outside of their district office like this. But then why would they send me to Memphis, and not Miami, Jacksonville or Atlanta?
I might take a drive up to Tampa and see whats going on, for some reason it won't let me to schedule an info pass.
