I just got my greencard and the expiration date is 2016... I dont know if this is a mistake since I thought all greencards are only valid for 2 yrs, and that the conditional clause needs to be removed...

Any thoughts?

We are married less than 2 years but got 10 years. I called my attorney and she said some exceptional cases do get unconditional green card. I also called the 800 number and they acknowledged it was correct.
Oh well, less work for me.

So what happens after 10 years? How do you get it extended at that point?

Hopefully, the GC will be a citizen, but if she/he is not, then I think a simple form is enough. It's just a formality.

Were you married for more than 2 years before getting the GC? If so there is no condition on it.

Congrats. It seems like USCIS makes a lot of mistakes. On my greencard they put the permanent resident since date as the date they received my application.

If it's a mistake, it should be corrected to avoid problems. In your case, it's OK to leave the date as is, but when applying for citizenship, make sure to base your calculations on the right date.

greencard

i called my lawyer and he said not to even bother calling them coz it does happen sometimes... i called the 1-800 number and they couldn't tell me if it was right or wrong.. They said to schedule an infopass appointment... what do you guys think?

I've heard from a family friend who was married for less than six months and got 10yrs as well.

I think in some rare cases they do give 10yrs

Congratulations :D , you are one of the lucky ones & you do not have to worry about conditional

Cheers

Gc..

Thanks!! I checked this with my lawyer too he said not to worry too much! Just that if it's a mistake I don't want to regret it later on...
