Got Interim EAD at Norfolk,VA

As my EAD application filling date passed 90 days I went to Norfolk,VA office this morning. The customer servise was good & ladies were very helpful.
You just need Receipt notice of your EAD, completed 765 form & photo ID. The lady over counter checks the date from Receipt Notice & return it back with receipt of form 765 received from you. Waited for 5 minutes & another lady calls for digital photo & index finger impression. After 5 minutes got the interim EAD for 8 months from today. The lady also told me that I will get the EAD from Vermount office which will be valid for 1 year from the date of last EAD expired.
Meanwhile talking to the lady over the counter, she told me that the 1-800 number is useless as its not helpful to the customers & need to talk to tear 2, we can get to tear 2 by asking tear 1 people. Also due to family based application our (employment based) green cards are taking lot of time.

EAD mess.

Glad u got it without a hassle. I am in a big soup. Live in Northern VA ( near DC) . 90 days since I field for my EAD. CUrrent EAD expires on 27 of Jan. Went to INS office in Arlington. After hours of waiting in biting cold, they gave me apptontment for Mar 10. This means that I wont be able to work anymore .. :( ts such a horrible situation.
Am debating if I shoud go to Norfolk office now. Do you live in the nearby area ? Do you think they will entertain me if I come from dc ? What time do you have to be there ?

you should definitely give it a try. you are legally allowed to get interim EAD from any BCIS office (recently some MD resident went to Boston to get same day EAD and he got it). The Norflk office is open from about 9am till 3pm. You better be there before 11am.

Please post your experience, in case you go down to Norfolk. 'cos I might get into similar situation in case my EAD doesn't arrive in next two weeks.

EAD woes

Folks,
Went to norfolk on Monday (01/19/04). It was an wasted effort. The office is much less crowded and opens at 8.30 ( you can still get in if you come around 9.30). I had to wait for a couple of hours to be confronted with an immigration officer ( lady ). i don't know what is it about them that makes them grumpy but she reject my application saying that I was not within the jurisdiction of Norfolk. I argued with her and ever spoke to their supervisor, who was much more patient and nicer in hearing us out, but without result. She adviced me to pursue my lawyers to get things done ( why else am I paying them money ? ).
So if you live in the vicinity of Norfok, I think you will receive the EAD the same day. Else, best of luck.

thanks for posting ur Norfolk experience.Sorry to hear ur story. This closes another door for us the northern VA guys. BTW, when you got ur appointment from the arlington office did you fill out the I-EAD application forms? The reason for my question is that, can I get an appointment for future date with out waiting for 90 days after filing for EAD renewal?
