Hi All,
for those of you who had existing appointments with US Consulate in Vancouver BC, I got mine last Friday. I, too, was worried that the appointment was cancelled so I called the 1-900# 2 days before the day of the appointment (nov 23). At first, the lady told me that since I had made my appointment before Nov 16, my appointment is still valid. However, then she learned that my country of citizenship is Indonesia (which is one of the 26 muslim countried under close scrutiny when you applied a visa), so she said that my appointment is cancelled effective immediately. Feeling crushed (because I have all the travel arrangements including my business trip to UK), I headed home and got a message from the same lady saying that she made a mistake and my appointment is still valid.
So I went to Vancouver without the letter of appointment (it got stuck in the mailroom or some like that cause I just received it yesterday, it\'s a requirement for toronto consular though), I even forgot to bring my F-1 OPT/EAD card (a bit nervous and panick). I got the stamp with no problem. I was sent to the 20th floor for an interview but the lady just took a look at my original i-797, employment verification letter, and she told me to come back at 3:00 PM to pick up my passport. It\'s very easy and painless.
My b/f will go to Vancouver this week to get the stamp(he also accompanied me last week and he had no problem returning to US with I-797 form with I-94 attached).
so hope this helps.
