Got green card, need to know about its usage

Hi all,
Kind of a stupid question but I would like to know how you guys use the GC? I got my green card ( finally got the physical card) yesterday and was wondering whether I should keep it in the bank locker or keep it at home or always carry with me as I carry my driver's lic...
Also, can we make a photo copy of it? was wondering as it has a magnetic strip at the back, whetehr Photo copying may damage that or not..

Please advise...

Congrats on the physical card. One should carry the card on them all the while although many folks (including myself) keep a photocopy of it and carry the card only while on domestic and international travel.

Photocopying does not damage the card.

I scanned the card on both sides, got the images exactly the same size as the card, printed it, stuck it back to back and laminated the print out, so I have the original Green Card in a Fire-safe Chest (at home and carry the laminated copy with me. :) :) :)
Carry the original only when you travel out of the US.
