Hi
This is my first post.

I just recently got my GC in the mail ...few months after i appeared for biometrics. Backlog elimination plan has really helped in the speedy process of Asylum cases. I hope some of you also recieved your GC in mail. After getting the Green card ...has any one visited the country they got the asylum from? I was given derivative asylum and wanted to visit the country now since i have recieved my GC. Will that affect my citizenship status? which i am elligible to apply for after 5 years?

The consensus is that if you are a derivative asylee, you need not worry about your COP visits.

Sorry i am new...what do u exactly mean by time line?

I have a new question. From my understanding and doing search on this forum i think if the asylee goes back his country of origin after obtaining his GC then there CAN be a issue at the time when he is elligible for citizenship.

However, I want to visit some other countries as i am graduating from college this year. But the issue is that the Passport i had from my country of origin has expired and the renewal application wants me to sign a disclaimar saying that i have NOT applied for or granted asylum. Obviously i can not sign this disclaimar as i have been granted asylum. What type of document/passport should i get that would let me travel countries (Other than my country of origin) legally and without any problems of coming back into US.

Time line as in

Date asylum was applied
nd - Date uscis received your 1-485 application
fp - finger prints data
Bio - Date you received and mailed your biographic information

Also there is an ongoing thread regarding visiting home country after approval
