Hi All,

I got a sad news that my father passed away on thursday 04-15-2004 , so I had to travel to my home country India. I went to Miami service center which has jurisdiction over the area of my residence, Coconut creek in Broward county.
They were so considerate and issued an AP for me to travel.
The documents that I produced there was a print out of email message that I got.
I was told in the counter that they may not issue AP unless I produce a fax copy of death certificate or doctor's letter etc. etc. but the adjudicating officer issued an AP. However they did not issue one for my wife as she is not an immediate relative.
I had an expired AP and didnot even have a pending application for AP.
I produced copies of I-485 and proof of residence (which the immigration officer never took a look at) and I got in the afternoon.
Hope this information will help people who are in a similar situation.

Pattabhi.
