got confused by paralegal's advice

when i told the paralegal that my co-sponsor for the green card has tax returns only for 2008 and 2007 and one of the year is only 500 less poverty line but he has assets to cover the difference,she said- "this is not fine, you d better wait for a new 2009 tax season to have 3 tax returns or find another sponsor" is she right in this case?

For I-864 affidavit of support purpose, you can use assets*5 for parents or siblings, etc or assets *3 for spouses & children of USC for difference between agi, i.e. 500-poverty guidelines income.

Don't take advice from parelegals. They are there to assist the lawyers with routine tasks, not to give advice to clients. If you're going to pay for advice, consult an actual lawyer who specializes in immigration.
