Got Australian immigration

got the email today.

even though i am still leaning towards india being my Plan B, i will keep australia as a backup just in case.

i think after initial entry i will have 5 years to go back and settle down.

it was a long process (1.5 years) for me since i had some issues, otherwise it gets done in 52 weeks.....total cost around $2.5k usd.

my Eb3 pd is Aug 2005 hence i do not have any hope of GC (i do have a EB1 pending but USCIS is god who can say anything.....so i do not want to count on them)

i hope we all will put some effort in creating a alternate to america, because the message is loud and clear........America does not care for skilled migrants.....they get tons without asking......even though they make every entry difficult....people still come......

it is easy to make statements after the process is done.......but unless we start something we will not know the result......

Congrats to you....

at least something is better than nothing....

How does it work now after getting this? Do you have to visit Australia before certain time or you will be australian immigrant no matter what?

and most importantly how is the job market in australia in your work field?

I heard job market is picking up. Australia is trying to follow the *American* way and compete. Thats the main reason America opened up special category visas for Australians to create brain drain.

Lot of software companies are starting up now. But job market is still *NOT* as hot as it is in US. It may take a while to get a job there.

beggers cannot be choosers..........australia is my plan C, just a backup guys........if the jobs are not good.........i will be back to plan B which is india.....

i have still not explored australia's friendly immigration policies for families.......imagine if i can get my parents as migrants say after 3-4 years of wait.........wow.....that will be priceless....

so even if i get my GC over here.....how long does it take to migrate your parents or brother sisters.....10-15 years......its a bit too late...

Congrats!
My own Aust application stuck in ACS (Aust Computer Society).
They didn't like the employer reference letters I sent... they said they want to see project details and specific skills used. My employers say they don't release such letters by policy so my Aust immigration plans are bad too.

Good luck!

I agree. Back home is my plan B. I've had enough of this immigration thing anyway.

Congrats Techy,

You have the similar plans like I do. I also have the Canadian GC for backup and i think about my parents the same way you are planning. I have few friends who got their Australian GC when US was in slump in 2001. They are well settled there. Let me know if you want to get more information.

By the way it does not hurt to have Plan C. Who knows what life brings to us !!

From reading some of your earlier posts, I thought you PD was older than 2005  :D

maybe i was talking in my EB1 avatar then.......EB1 is current but getting the I-140 approved is a big deal.....have not heard about it and dont know how many more documents they will ask...

One of my classmate has settled in australia. He got his law degree from australia and now works as an immigration attorney. Let me know if you guys need any help. He knows all ins and outs of australian immigration system.

gondalguru.....thanks for the offer......i am sure will need some help if i move there and want my family to migrate there..

but right now i am messed up figuring out usa immigration system....visa revalidation....stuck I-140.....advance parole....

btw if i use advance parole will that mean i have abandoned my H1 visa??

Australia is nice place to stay. Best part is weather and you can settle down to the climate which you like in contrary to Canada. It is a country with a lot of natural resources and is one part of the developed countries.

Job prospect is “OK” not as great as US. You will be paid in Ausi currency and hence salary is approx 30% less than US. Taxes are high, healthcare is better. If it is a backup plan I will prefer Canada as it is close to US and easy to maintain contact. If you are in Canada you can even work remotely for the same client if possible.

After visiting Australia you PR is valid for next five years. No need to stay for two yeas in Australia like Canada. I also read from some of the forum, some time Australian Embassy increase the validity if you provide evidence that your stay in US will help Australia in long term – like education, better job experience not available in Australia.

Sidney/Melbourne are one of the few nice places to leave. If you have a little contact is easy to be settling down and which is also true for any new country.

Best of luck.
