Got AP in mail and Interim EAD by walkin

AP approved on 06/21/01 postmark 6/25/01received 6/27/01
AP has start date of 6/05/01

EAD
same RD and ND dates
no news so far. Walked in at SJ. Got an Interim EAD valid for "8months - 5 days"
Showed EAD recipt, 485 receipt and passport for ID.
Also submitted filled-in EAD application.
No fee was charged.
No photos required, they will take the picture.

HI Ramesh Babu,

What time did you reach San Jose INS office? My receipt date is 03/22 and ND is 04/10. AVM says EAD is approved on 05/23 and a card is ordered. AP is not approved yet. Checked AVM yesterday.
Is there any speicial line for getting EAD at San Jose INS office?
Please share your experience. My wife is waiting for EAD card to join as a full time employee.

I went around 3 am. There were around 70 people ahead of me.
there is no separate queue for EAD. They let us in around 7am.
I got the ticket pretty quickly, before 0715. Waited till my ticket
number to come on the display. My number came at 1015. After talking with
the officer and presenting docs, I was referred to EAD counter.
From here on, they call by name.
Everything was over by 1030.

 have you ever checked automated voice system for CSC to check the status of
 EAD before you went to the INS office?
 Also it would be very helpful if you tell what exactly you need to tail them.
