Goods to follow

Hi,

I had a question regarding the list of goods to follow that is to be given at the time of landing.

I am planning to land in Canada and come back to the US and move to Canada permanently later.

At this point, I do not own too much in terms of furniture, electronics etc. However, in the event that I do buy these things in the next couple of years (after the official landing in Canada), would I be charged duty on the goods because I did not list them initially?

Would it be a good idea to list these as goods to follow right now even though I don't own them?

Any help with this is appreciated.

Thanks,
srini

Yes, you will be liable for duties on goods not listed. High value items such as electronics must be listed with a serial number on the goods to follow. So, you won't be able to add any electronics if you have not purchased it yet.
Factor in the cost of moving large bulky items like tv and furniture. It ain't worth it if you are moving in a year or so.
